Digital Painting - Week 3

Homework from Digital Painting week 3.  Assignment was to paint something from observation, requiring us to mix our own colors without sampling colors from photographs.  Pretty fun stuff, but the outdoor environment seems really hard to make look convincing...

Dynamic Sketching - Week 3 - Plants

UPDATE:

This week, we were to re-design something using a plant-themed mindset.  I chose to do a plant-based theme park!  I drew a couple different rides that were based on different plants that we saw at the Arboretum:

We visited The Arboretum this week.  Drawing a lot of plants and scenery.  As usual, felt pen, tone paper, marker, white pen.  I'll be working on a 're-design' project for this week's HW pretty soon.. will update soon.

Figure Drawing - Week 2

20+ more figure drawing sketches... this week's emphasis was on using mannequins to construct the figure, focusing on the upper body and torso.

Digital Painting - Week 2

For our digital painting class, we were to paint some frames from a movie of our choosing.  I chose Pan's Labyrinth because I remember it was shot quite artistically and beautifully, with strong compositions and some interesting things to paint (I like that baby eater monster).  We were to work in only black/white values.  Definitely a worthwhile and fun assignment.. as this is really my first attempt at painting in Photoshop!

Dynamic Sketching Week 2 - Form and Texture

So much homework....!

We were to draw organic forms, textures, combined basic shapes, and plants... and lots of them!
